Tutti Fruity Cheese Kabobs

Ingredients

  • 9 pieces of Borden Mozzarella Part-Skim String CheeseTM
  • 1 small, seedless watermelon cut into thin slices
  • 2 apples, unpeeled and sliced into 1-inch thick slices
  • 3 whole, unpeeled apples, stems removed, approximately 3 inches in diameter
  • 1 fresh pineapple cut into 1-inch thick slices, core removed
  • 1 quart fresh whole strawberries
  • 1 bunch seedless grapes

Non- food Supplies

  • 9 – 6-inch wooden skewers
  • 3 – 3-inch clean clay pots and saucers
  • Various shapes of cookie cutters
  • Optional – Assorted colors of paint pens

Directions

1. Line a cookie sheet with foil or parchment and set aside until ready to use.

2. Cut each Borden Mozzarella Part-Skim String CheeseTM into 4 pieces. Set aside until ready to use.

3. Using assorted shapes of 1 – 1.5-inch cookie cutters, cut watermelon, apples, pineapple and strawberries into various shapes.

4. Using wooden skewers, alternately place 4 cheese pieces and assorted fruits onto each skewer, allowing about 2 inches at the bottom of every skewer to remain free of fruit or cheese.

5. Place each completed skewer on prepared cookie sheet; cover and place in refrigerator until ready to use or up to 2 hours.

6. If decorating clay pots with paint pens, decorate several hours prior to filling with kabobs to allow to dry completely.

7. To serve, place a clean napkin inside each clay pot. Then, place a whole, unpeeled apple with the stem removed within each pot.

8. Remove kabobs from refrigerator and insert 3 fruit and cheese kabobs into the center of each apple to secure. Serve immediately.

Tip: To keep apples from turning brown, sprinkle apple slices with fresh orange juice, and keep them covered until they are ready to be eaten
